Amemboa (Amemboa) javanica Lundblad

Description

Amemboa (Amemboa) javanica Lundblad

Figs. 14, 28

Amemboa (Amemboa) javanica Lundblad 1933: Arch. Hydrobiol. Suppl. 405.

Diagnosis. Males of A. javanica have the pygophore with a truncate tip (Fig. 28). Further, the male profemur of A. javanica can be distinguished from those of consubgeners known from the Phetchabun Mountain Range by having only a single hair patch (Fig. 14), whereas males of the other species have either two or three distinct hair patches.

Discussion. Amemboa javanica has been recorded from Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam (Polhemus & Andersen 1984; Zettel & Chen 1996, 1997; Cheng et al. 2001; Zettel et al. 2007). In Thailand, this species has been collected from Chiang Mai, Kanchanaburi, Khon Kaen, Phetchabun, Phetchaburi, Phrae, Prachin Buri, and Saraburi provinces (Polhemus & Andersen 1984; Vitheepradit 2000). In the Phetchabun Mountain Range, this species was collected from the margins of streams and rock pools.

Material examined. THAILAND: Loei Province: Phu Kradung NP, Nam Pong, 16°48'N 101°41'E, 251 m, 4- V-2004, A. Vitheepradit, L-661 (1 winged male, 1 winged female); Plan Ba Waterfall, 17°28'N 101°22'E, 648 m, 10-V-2004, A. Vitheepradit and T. Prommi, L-675 (1 winged male); same locality, 6-IIII-2011, KU team, C-43 (1 winged male, 5 wingless males, 4 wingless females); Amphur Phu Rua, Lam Nam San, 17°25'N 101°16'E, 620 m, 6-IIII-2011, KU team, C-42 (2 winged males, 21 winged females, 3 wingless females); Phitsanulok Province: Thung Salaeng Luang NP, Huai Tub Dah Mi, 16°50'N 101°51'E, 397 m, 13-V-2004, A. Vitheepradit and T. Prommi, L-683 (6 winged males, 3 winged females, 3 wingless females).
