Myrmozercon antennophoroides (Berlese, 1903)

Myrmonyssus antennophoroides Berlese, 1903: 439.

Diagnosis. Body length 850; dorsal shield rounded, but eroded posteriorly, with approximately 33 pairs of dorsal setae, soft cuticle posterior to dorsal shield hypertrichous; setae j6 as long as other mid-dorsal setae, well separated. Sternal shield entire, not eroded; setae st4 present. Genital shield with two pairs of setae. Anal shield small, indistinct. Peritreme short, reaching anterior margin of coxa III. Legs long, legs I about as long as body. Host: Camponotus aethiops (Latreille).

Remarks. This species is unique in having two pairs of setae on the genital shield (M. eidmanni is shown with two pairs of structures, but there is only one pair of setae).
