According to Townes et al. (1965), Jezarotes is distinguished from other genera of Acaenitinae by the

combination of the following character states: clypeus with a preapical ridge, hind tarsal claws simple, the median

lobe of mesoscutum strongly projecting forward (Fig. 1), and the upper tooth of mandible much smaller than lower

tooth (Fig. 9).

Distribution. Eastern Palearctic and Oriental regions.

Remarks. Three Oriental species, J. yanensis Sheng & Sun, 2013 from South China, J. apicalis (Sonan, 1936) from Taiwan and J. mitai sp. nov. from Laos, are distinct from the Palearctic species in the hind femur without a blunt ventral tooth.
