Teredorus Hancock 1907
Description
Genus Teredorus Hancock, 1907
Type species: Teredorus stenofrons Hancock, 1907, by original designation.
Composition. The genus comprises 29 species distributed in South America and the Oriental region (Hancock, 1907a; Deng et al., 2014). One species is found in Thailand.
Notes. Only the type species of the genus is known from South America (Peru), while all other species are distributed in the Oriental Region and probably the American and Oriental forms are not congeneric (Ingrisch, 2001). Moreover, the Oriental species of Teredorus are very similar to representatives of the genus Systolederus (subfamily Metrodorinae) and may be the members of the latter genus (Deng et al., 2014). Quite possible that species of the genus Zhengitettix (subfamily Scelimeninae) are also belong to this group.
