Description

Euplocania daguaensis n. sp.

(Figs 21–32)

Diagnosis. Belonging in species group “B”, in the classification of García Aldrete et al. (2013). Central sclerite of hypandrium anteriorly and laterally rounded; posteriorly with two short, pointed projections in the middle; side posterior projections curved inwards, with inner border denticulate, blunt ended. Phallosome V shaped, with a large, transverse, posterior sclerite (Fig. 26). Female IX sternum almost trapeziform, anteriorly convex, mesally with a transverse area posteriorly convex.

Male. Color. Head pattern (Fig. 23). Compound eyes black, ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents. Postclypeus with brown converging bands. Anteclypeus and labrum dark brown in the middle, with sides pale brown. Genae brown. Antennae creamy. Mx 1–3 creamy; Mx4 creamy, with apical third brown. Tergal lobes of meso- and metathorax dark brown. Thoracic pleura creamy, with small brown spots. Coxae of all legs brown, more pigmented proximally and distally; trochanters brown; femora of all legs brown, distally dark brown; tibiae of all legs brown, distally dark brown; first tarsomere of all legs brown; tarsomeres 2–3 of all legs dark brown. Forewings hyaline, with a pale brown band along margin, from R 2+3 to distal end of cell 1A; veins brown, with a dark brown spot at wing margin. Pterostigma peripherally dark brown, pale brown in the middle. Hindwings hyaline, veins brown, with a dark brown spot at wing margin of R 4+5, M1, and Cu1. Abdomen creamy, with dark brown irregular spots. Central sclerite of hypandrium pale brown, with sides dark brown. Epiproct and paraprocts creamy.

Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head: H/MxW: 1.36; compound eyes large, H/d: 2.54; IO/ MxW: 0.65. Outer cusp of lacinial tip broad, with nine denticles. Mx4/Mx2: 1.25. Forewings (Fig. 21): L/W: 2.82. Pterostigma: lp/wp: 5.72, areola postica tall, with rounded apex: al/ah: 1.34. Hindwings (Fig. 22): l/w: 3.06. Central sclerite of hypandrium rounded anteriorly, triconcave posteriorly, side sclerites broadly triangular (Fig. 25). Phallosome (Fig. 26) anteriorly V shaped, with broad side struts; external parameres membranous, distally rounded, bearing pores; two pairs of endophallic sclerites, and one posterior, transverse sclerite. Epiproct (Fig. 24) broad, almost straight anteriorly, with sides converging to a rounded apex, this with a setal field, flanked by two macrosetae; one large setae on each side, three mesal setae near anterior border, and other setae as illustrated. Paraprocts (Fig. 24) almost elliptic, with a dense setal field distally; sensory fields with 26–28 trichobothria on basal rosettes.
