Stata code for the compilation of EMM Survey Registry : creation of a single data from individual Excel files

This code is a text file containing a number of commands that can be executed by STATA. This file was used internally to generate a single data file containing all surveys of the EMM Survey Registry.

Once provided with individual files containing internally checked Excel files containing individual surveys, this code implements different operations including : 

1)  reads and compiles all surveys from each Excel files into a single data file ; 

2) for each standardized questions, a new variable in numerical values with labels is created ;

3) export the compiled data into different formats (dta, csv and sav).

The EMM Survey Registry is jointly being produced by SSHOC’s Task 9.2 (Ethnic Migration Studies) team of Work Package 9 (Data Communities), in close collaboration with COST Action 16111 – ETHMIGSURVEYDATA (an international network of more than 200 researchers active in the ethnic and migration studies field) and FAIRETHMIGQUANT (a French Agence Nationale de la Recherche funded Open Science project).
