Etymology. This species is named after its occurrence on the Australian continent.

Description. Known from females only. Fore wing length 3.0–3.2 (holotype: 3.1) mm. Antenna with 30–31 (30) flagellomeres. Mesoscutum with only a few punctures along front margin and sometimes along notauli. Scutellum without punctures, all smooth and shining. Mesopleuron with strong and rather dense punctures, smooth in-between; below subtegular ridge with some parallel, diagonal carinulae. Metapleuron with juxacoxal carina absent or at most a short basal carina. Propodeal areas smooth with some punctures. Hind coxa coriaceous and matt, with weak punctures. Hind femur length to width ratio 4.7–4.9, ventrally with a small tooth at most half as long as width of hind tibia at mid length. Hind tibia 1.1–1.2 mm. Second tergite 2.1–2.3 × longer than wide at base, smooth and shining. Ovipositor 1.7 × as long as hind tibia.

Colouration. Antenna basally orange, remainder brown or black. Face mostly black or dark brown, with irregular orange markings around central area. Clypeus orange. Back of head black or dark brown. Mesosoma entirely orange. Hind femur red-brown, with apex yellow. Hind tibia white or yellow with dark apex and base. Fore wing somewhat infuscate. Tergite 1 orange at base, black or brown on remainder, tergites 2 onwards dark brown with orange hind margins.

Notes. The specimens from NT on average have more extended orange colouration on the metasoma, but also show variation in this character.
