Ptenidium gibbosum sp. n.

Habitus Fig. 7. Length 0.80 mm. Colour black, shining, appearing polished, with fine scattered punctulation; antennae and legs dusky yellow. Head pubescent on frons. Antennomeres 3–11 0.27 mm long Fig. 39; 10–11 Fig. 40. Width across eyes 0.30 mm. Mentum and submentum Fig. 43. Pronotum 0.41 mm wide, 0.26 mm long; setae at hind angles long Fig. 14. Elytra 0.49 mm long, 0.20 mm wide. Scutellum with a short, pointed basal carina Fig. 26. Proventral keel between procoxae depressed medially, slightly tapering anteriorly and rounded posteriorly Fig. 18. Male: forehead with two prominent tuberosities and small medial tuft of setae Figs. 8, 10; aedeagus Fig. 34. Female: forehead simple; spermatheca Fig. 27.

Etymology. After the Latin gibbus meaning a hump and referring to the tuberosities on the head of the male.

Diagnosis. The tuberosities on the head of the male will immediately separate this species from all others.

Type data: Holotype: ♂, PERU: Cusco Dept.: Villa Carmen Field Station, cafeteria ~ 1.7 km west, research transect, 12.89250°S 71.41917°W, 555m, 21–22.V.2011, D.J. Bennett & E. Razuri, flight intercept trap, PER-11- FIT-007 (MUSM). Paratypes: 2 ♀, same data as holotype (MUSM / SEMC); 1 ex., PERU: Cusco Dept.: Villa Carmen Field Station, cafeteria ~ 1.7 km west, research transect, 12.89221°S 71.41946°W, 560m, 24–26.V.2011, D.J. Bennett & E. Razuri, flight intercept trap, PER-11-FIT-012 (BMNH); ♂, PERU: Cusco Dept.: Villa Carmen Field Station, cafeteria ~ 1.7 km west, research transect, 12.89231°S 71.41930°W, 555m, 24–26.V.2011, D.J. Bennett & E.
