Scatopsciara (Xenopygina) miakodae sp. n. *

Locus typicus: USA, Arizona, Cochise County, Huachuca Mts. Ash Cyn Rd, 31.39°N, 111.24°W, oak-pine woodland. Holotype: Male, 5.–30.viii.1993, leg. N. McFarland, Malaise trap (PWMP).
Description. Male. Head. Dark brown. Eye bridge 3 facets wide. 4th flagellomere with l/w-index of 2.0, haired nearly as long as wide, brownish; neck rather long. Palpus 3-segmented, short; basal segment without deepened sensory area, with 4–5 bristles. Thorax. Brown; scutum haired brown. Wings pale; R1 = 2/3 R; c somewhat longer ½ w; y shorter x, bare; posterior veins bare. Haltere short, brownish. Legs yellowish-brown; tibial organ comb-like; claws toothless. Abdomen. Brown, haired brownish. Hypopygium brown. Gonocoxites compact, longer than gonostylus, ventral base and inner ventral margin haired rather long. Gonostylus short, weakly ovoid, without tooth but with 2 somewhat unequal apical spines. Tegmen simple, wider than high. Body size: 2.0 mm.
Comments. Two apical spines on gonostylus characterize the species. It is similar to Sc. submiakodae. The species belongs to the Sc. inesae group.
Distribution. USA (Arizona).
