Coenosia aurifacies Emden, 1940: 146

Holotype male seen; in good condition.
Diagnosis. General colour brown with grey pollinosity; head round with faint yellow golden pollen under certain lights; antenna short, apex far from mouth-margin; palpus and proboscis shining brown; antenna dark brown with apex of pedicel strongly grey pollinose and contrasting with general colour of antenna; legs yellow contrasting with the body colour; coxae grey dusted; scutum with three brown vittae, the median reaching apex of scutellum and the lateral ones faint; scutellum with both basal and apical setae long; all katepisternals long and similar in length; hind tibia with only the anterodorsal seta in male, the female also with an anteroventral seta; sternite 5 as in Fig. 59.
Male terminalia. Cercal plate and surstylus as in Fig. 60. Aedeagal complex as in Fig. 61.
Notes. The species was described in the genus Coenosia and can be easily recognized by the yellow legs and by the absence in the male of a submedian posterodorsal and anteroventral seta on hind tibia. One male (not a paratype) was dissected and illustrated.
