Description

Genus Thelepus Leuckart, 1849

Type species. Thelepus cincinnataus (Fabricius, 1780)

Remarks. According to Hsueh & Li (2016), forty-eight species are currently recognised for the genus, and recently another two species have been described from Brazilian waters (Carrerette et al. in press). The present study therefore increases the number of known species for this genus to 52. Of these, only five were previously recorded from Chinese waters, including the two described in this paper.
