Description

Amphidraus somondoco sp. nov.

Type. Holotype: female from Quebrada La Cristalina, Santa María, Boyacá, Colombia [850 m], [4.859104°N, 73.261385°W], 21.III.2015, V. Muñoz-Charry (ANDES –IN 2899).

Etymology. The epithet is a noun in apposition that honors the Somondoco indigenous people of the Chibcha language family, which inhabited the region of the type locality.

Diagnosis. Females of A. somondoco sp. nov. are similar to those of A. mae sp. nov., A. sie sp. nov. and A. sua sp. nov. by the general disposition of the internal structures of the epigyne, but can be distinguished from those by their shorter copulatory ducts, with anterior oval spermathecae, and single, rounded medial pocket in the epigyne (Figs 10e–f).

Description. Female (holotype). Total length 3.00. Carapace dark brown with a posterior light brown longitudinal stripe, 1.60 long, 1.12 wide, 0.78 high (Fig. 18a). OC black, 0.66 long. Anterior eye row 1.09 wide and posterior 1.01 wide. Sternum dark brown, 0.56 long, 0.49 wide. Labium dark brown, 0.11 long, 0.40 wide. Chelicerae dark brown, with four retromarginal and two promarginal teeth. Legs 4312, all light brown with dark brown marks. Leg macrosetae: femur, I–III d 2 di; IV d 1 di; patellae, III r 1 me; tibiae, I v 2-2 -2; II v 2-2 -2, p 1 di; III v 1 me, p 1 me, r 1 me; IV v 1-1, p 1 me, r 1-1; metatarsus, I v 2-2; II v 2-2, p 1 di, r 1 di; III v 1 -0-2, p 1-0-2, r 1-0-2; IV v 1 -0-2, p 1-1-2, r 1-0-2. Abdomen black, with some posterior-transversal white stripes (Fig. 18a). Epigyne (Figs 10e–f, 25b, 25h) with anterior copulatory openings, long copulatory ducts, a posterior single medial pocket, and anterior oval spermathecae.

Male. Unknown.

Comments. The holotype female was collected manually in the soil, on the border of a highly preserved, wet Andean forest.

Distribution. Colombia (Boyacá) (Fig. 27). Known altitudinal distribution: 850 m.
