Description
Triplocania chocoensis n. sp. Male
(Figs 110–115)
Diagnosis. Wings hyaline. Central sclerite of the hypandrium strongly convex anteriorly, with two median, small posterior processes, leaving between them a rounded concavity, with a pigmented band along the border (Fig. 114). Phallosome V-shaped anteriorly, with side struts joined posteriorly to broad, membranous external parameres, distally rounded, bearing a field of short spines along posterior border. Anterior endophallic sclerites M-shaped, with stout arms; mesal sclerite broadly H-shaped, underlaid by elliptic rounded bands; posterior sclerites slender, curved outwards, bearing denticles on distal inner border (Fig.115).
Color (in 80% ethanol). Body pale brown. Compound eyes ochre; ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents. Head pattern (Fig. 112); front with two transverse brown bands from the inner border of the compound eyes to the ocellar group, the upper one broader; two irregular brown areas above the epistomal sulcus, next to each antennal fossae; postclypeus with a V-shaped brown area; genae brown, postgenae and antennae pale brown; maxillary palps pale brown, Mx4 distally dark brown. Thorax pale brown, with areas on the tergal lobes of meso- and metathorax cream. Legs pale brown. Forewing pterostigma with pale brown bands proximally and distally. Vein ends of fore- and hind- wings with a small brown spot. Abdomen cream, with small brown spots on tergites.
Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head (Fig. 112): H/MxW: 1.52; H/D: 2.11, IO/MxW: 0.45, MxW/IO: 3.53. Vertex slightly emarginate, slightly below the level of the compound eyes. Outer cusp of lacinial tip broad, with three broad denticles. Mx4/Mx2: 1.40. Forewings (Fig. 110): L/W: 2.61; pterostigma: lp/wp: 5.00; areola postica triangular, slanted posteriorly, la/ha: 2.17. Hindwings (Fig. 111): l/w: 2.94. Hypandrium (Fig. 114), setae as illustrated; two macrosetae on the inner margin of each of the posterior lobes of the sclerite. Phallosome (Fig. 115). Paraprocts broad, oval (Fig. 113), with abundant setae in the posterior third, with a macrosetae near the sensory fields; these with 22 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct wide, semioval, setae as illustrated (Fig. 113).

Etymology. The specific name refers to the Colombian Biogeographic Chocó Region.
