Remarks. Distant (1916) originally described this species in the genus Pediopsis based on specimens from Nilgiri Hills, India. Hamilton (1980) moved it into Pedionis in his work. The species can be easily recognized by its evenly yellowish brown coloration and small body; the aedeagal shaft with paired spines near the middle; and the distinctive structure of the pygofer lobe and dorsal connective.

Description. Body coloration (Fig. 1D–F) evenly yellowish brown, with striations and punctations dark brown. Eyes red brown. Scutellum with pair of brown triangular speckles on lateral angles, puncta on surface dark brown. Forewings with distal part dark brown, venation brown with white spots, appearing dashed. Legs with black markings at bases of spines.

Body (Fig. 1D–F) slender. Crown in dorsal view nearly parallel margined, head across eyes as broad as pronotum. Face including eyes as long as wide, upper region with medial inconspicuous longitudinal carina, distance between ocelli nearly 5 × as long as that from ocellus to adjacent eye. Pronotum 2.4 × wider than long, densely covered with oblique striations, anterior margin extended forward, hind margin deeply excavated medially. Scutellum 1.5 × longer than pronotum, with punctations, suture between mesonotum and scutellum well developed, arched forward.

Male genitalia. Pygofer (Fig. 3 A) broad basally, dorsal margin incised, caudal margin declivous caudoventrally, tapered to point, ventral margin with some setae. Subgenital plate (Fig. 3 B) slender, parallel margined, not projected beyond apex of pygofer, 2/3 × as long as ventral margin of pygofer, apex round, dorsal half of surface with setae, longer distally. Aedeagus (Fig. 3 C–D) broad basally, shaft with pair of ventrolateral spines near middle; in lateral view, slightly bent dorsally, shaft tapered to acute apex; in ventral view, shaft lateral margins slightly sinuate above spines, apex round, gonopore apical. Dorsal connective (Fig. 3 E) apical process slender, sinuate, ventral margin with median triangular projection, tapered and finely serrated more distad, apex subacute. Style (Fig. 3 F) slender, angled on nearly basal 1/3, stem slightly sinuate and gradually widened, apex abruptly narrowed and reflexed with truncate tip.

Female. Body coloration pattern and appearance similar to male, but color slightly lighter and form slightly stronger. 7th sternite excavated medially, length of midline about 1.5 × as long as 6th sternite. Ovipositor definitely projecting beyond pygofer.

Measurement. Body length in repose (including tegmen): Ƌ, 4.0 mm; ♀, 4.0– 4.2 mm.
