Type material. Male holotype (MUSM-Ent 502099) from Peru, Cajamarca, Parque Nacional Cutervo, Puente del Suro, 6°12'10"S, 78°44'22"W, 2438 m, 22.V.2010, R. Pinto da Rocha, M. Alvarado & D. Silva leg.; two males and one female paratypes (MUSM-Ent 502099), same data as the holotype; male paratype (MUSM-Ent 501775) from Peru, Cajamarca, San Pedro, 6°16'51"S, 78°49'55"W, 2428 m, 23.V.2010.

Etymology. The specific name is a patronym in honour of biologist and educator Salomón Vílchez Murga, who created the Cutervo National Park in 1961, the oldest national park in Peru.

Diagnosis. Males of E. murgai n. sp. are similar to those of E. palatanga by the long, smooth, distally rounded MA median prong (Bonaldo 1994: figs 32̄34), differing by the RTA distally unbranched (Figs 4, 6). They also resemble males of E. zarate (Figs 9 ̄11) by the RTA distally wide, but can be distinguished by the unsclerotized, hyaline conductor (Fig. 4). Females resemble those of E. saylapampa by the epigynum with triangular anterior projections and those of E valderramai by the distally sclerotized anterior projections (Bonaldo 1994: figs 50, 52), but can be distinguished by the combined presence of anterior projections with acute apices and posterior margin nearly straight (Fig. 7).

Description. Male (Holotype, MUSM 502099). Colour in ethanol: carapace brownish red, cephalic region darker, thoracic groove mark reddish, chelicerae brownish red. Endites and labium brownish red with black margins. Sternum orange with brown margins. Legs orange. Abdomen grey with some pale-yellow spots. Chelicerae with 3 promarginal teeth, the second the largest, 4 retromarginal teeth, separated by their width. Tarsi I– II with moderate scopulae, tarsi III–IV and metatarsi III–IV with dense scopulae. Total length 10.4. Carapace 4.9 long, 3.8 wide. Eye diameters: AME 0.23, ALE 0.31, PME 0.25, PLE 0.27. Eye interdistances: AME–AME 0.25, AME–ALE 0.29, PME–PME 0.31, PME–PLE 0.50, AME–PME 0.29, ALE–PLE 0.13, clypeus AME 0.16, clypeus ALE 0.20. Leg and palp measurements: palp 6.1 (2.3, 0.8, 1.0, -, 2.0); leg I 18.0 (4.7, 1.9, 4.5, 4.5, 2.4); leg II 16.4 (4.5, 1.7, 4.0, 4.2, 2.0); leg III 14.0 (3.8, 1.8, 3.1, 3.4, 1.9); leg IV 18.0 (5.0, 1.9, 4.2, 4.9, 2.0). Palp: tibia slender, nearly half the cymbial length; RTA single, strongly sclerotized, widened distally, tip projected ventrally; MA apically placed, median prong rounded apically; conductor hyaline, long; embolus not fused to tegulum, inserted basally, filiform, without processes (Figs 4 ¯6).

Female (Paratype, MUSM 502099). Colour in ethanol: carapace brownish orange, thoracic groove reddish, chelicerae, endites and labium brownish red. Sternum yellow with black margins. Legs yellow. Abdomen brown. Chelicera with 3 promarginal teeth, the second the largest, the first a denticle, and with 4 retromarginal teeth closely placed. Tarsi I–IV and metatarsi I–II with dense scopulae; metatarsi III–IV with moderate scopulae. Total length 10.9. Carapace 5.3 long, 4.3 wide. Eye diameters: AME 0.24, ALE 0.34, PME 0.21, PLE 0.28. Eye interdistances: AME–AME 0.34, AME–ALE 0.30, PME–PME 0.37, PME–PLE 0.61, AME–PME 0.34, ALE–PLE 0.13, clypeus AME 0.20, clypeus ALE 0.22. Leg and palp measurements: palp 5.85 (2.0, 0.91, 1.3, -, 1.8); leg I 16.6 (4.6, 2.2, 3.8, 4.1, 1.9); leg II 15.3 (4.3, 2.0, 3.5, 3.7, 1.8); leg III 12.5 (3.7, 1.8, 2.6, 3.0, 1.4); leg IV 16.5 (4.7, 2.0, 3.7, 4.4, 1.7). Epigynum: Median field longer than wide; Anterior projections large in relation to posterior plates, with acute, sclerotized apices; posterior plates separated medially, with strongly divergent anterior margins; primary spermathecae large, secondary spermathecae small, tube-like, superposed to primary spermathecae; fertilization ducts inserted adjacently to insertion of secondary spermathecae (Figs 7, 8).
