In China it is distributed in the northeastern and northern parts, extending to northern Sichuan (Zoigê County) in the south. The record of M. miriformis from Ningxia (Zheng & Gao 1990, Liu et al. 1993) and the record of M. calcaratus from Li County, Sichuan (Hsiao 1977) probably pertain to this subspecies. Its distribution in China can be summarized as follows: Xinjiang!; Qinghai!; Sichuan!; Inner Mongolia!; Heilongjiang!; Ningxia: Mt. Liupan? (Zheng & Gao 1990, Liu et al. 1993).
