Morphological and Solidification Studies of the Naphthalene-p-dichlorobenzene Eutectic

The mechanism of eutectic solidification of naphthalene-p-dichlorobenzene system has been investigated by spontaneous crystallisation, unidirectional velocity of crystallisation, and microscopic studies. Growth of the two phases of the eutectic occur side by side as controlled by cross-diffusion of the components ahead of the solid liquid interface. Nonideal character of the binary system has been established from the excess thermodynamic functions.
