Barydesmus tenebrosus Silvestri, 1898

Barydesmus tenebrosus Silvestri, 1898b: 3, fig. 5 (original description).

Platyrhacus tenebrosus: Attems 1914: 260 (combination); Brölemann 1919: 257 (description; new record; as Platyrrhacus tenebrosus); Hoffman 1960: 22 (taxonomic comments).

Platyrhacus (Tirodesmus) tenebrosus: Attems 1938: 284.

Types: Unspecified number of ♂ and ♀ syntypes from Ecuador: "foreste del Rio Peripa ". 10 syntypes are deposited at the MSNG (M. Tavano, pers. comm.).

Distribution: Ecuador.

Comments: Attems (1938) considered this species a synonym of P. fraternus, a decision rejected by Hoffman (1960).
