Chroaptomus Sharp 1885

Chroaptomus Sharp 1885: 437. Type species: Philonthus flagrans Erichson, 1840, designated by Lucas 1920: 184.

Notes: Chroaptomus is an endemic Neotropical genus with five valid species known at present, distributed from Mexico to northern Argentina, through Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil (Chani-Posse 2006). The genus has been recently revised (Chani- Posse 2006) and its monophyly confirmed (Chani-Posse et al. 2018).

Philonthus coelites Erichson 1840: 440. Type locality: Brasilia. Type depository: ZMHB LT. Distribution: Brazil (Bahia, Paraná, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina, São Paulo). Notes: comb. nov. ex Philonthus (Scheerpeltz, 1933: 1376, as var. of flagrans); lectotype designation, redescription and distribution (Chani- Posse 2006: 373); distribution within Brazil (Asenjo et al. 2013).

Philonthus flagrans Erichson 1840: 441. Type locality: Columbia. Type depository: ZMHB LT ♂, 3 PLT. Distribution: Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina. Notes: comb. nov. ex Philonthus (Sharp 1885: 437); Peru (Asenjo 2004); lectotype designation, redescription and distribution (Chani-Posse 2006: 370); distribution, also within Mexico (Navarrete-Heredia et al. 2002, Márquez 2006).

Chroaptomus mexicanus Chani-Posse & Navarrete-Heredia in Chani-Posse 2006: 376. Type locality: Jalisco, Tequila, Volcán de Tequila, 2500m. Type depository: CZUG HT, etc. Distribution: Mexico.

Chroaptomus regalis Sharp 1885: 438. Type locality: Bugaba, Panama. Type depository: BMNH LT, FMNH 3 PLT. Distribution: Costa Rica, Panama. Note: lectotype designated by Chani- Posse (2006: 375).

Note: Delgadobius is an endemic Neotropical genus with a single species recorded so far.

Type depository: MNHN HT ♂; FMNH 4PT, etc. Distribution: Brazil, Peru. Notes: in male inflorescences of palms Mauritia, Oenocarpus, Euterpe spp (Arecaceae) (Chani-Posse & Couturier 2012); not in Asenjo et al. 2013.
