Siccia terlineata Volynkin 2019, comb. nov.
Authors/Creators
Description
Siccia terlineata (Durante, 2009), comb. nov.
(Figs 9, 22)
Afrasura terlineata Durante, 2009, Zootaxa 2280: 49, figs 32, 72 (Type locality: “ Ethiopia, Langano lake, 7°32’N, 38°31’E, 1580 m a.s.l.”).
Remark. The male of S. terlineata is unknown. Nevertheless, according to the female genitalia structure (the sclerotized ductus bursae (in Afrasura ductus bursae is subdivided into antrum and membranous anterior part), the presence of the postero-lateral sclerotized area in the corpus bursae, the presence of the lateral band-like signum, and the elongate and twisted appendix bursae) and the forewing coloration and pattern, terlineata clearly belongs to the genus Siccia and is closely related to Siccia conformis Hampson, 1914. The genitalia of the female holotype of S. terlineata (Fig. 15) differs only slightly from that of S. conformis (Fig. 16), rendering this taxon presumably to be just a synonym of the widespread and polymorphic S. conformis. To clarify the status of S. terlineata, examination of its male is necessary.
Distribution. The species is known from its type locality only, Lake Langano in Central Ethiopia.
