Binuclear Metal Chelates of Biphenyldihydrazone of 1,3-Diketones

Reaction  of biphenyl-4,4' -tetrazonium ion with 1,3-diketones (benoylacetone, dibenjoylinethane and thenoyl-trifluoroacetone) led to the formalion of  2,2' -(4,4' -biphenyldihydrazono)bis(1,2,3-triketones). The compounds have been  shown to  exist in the intramolecularly hydrogen-bonded dihydrazones. Bimetallic chelates of composition M₂L₂ (M = Cu^II , Ni^II and Pd^II ) have been synthesised and characterised on the basis of ir, ¹H and ¹³C nmr aud mass spectral data.
