Complexes of type ML2X2, where L = 2-(o-anisylidineiminoamino)-4-phenylthiazole (APT) or 2-(o-anisylidineiminoamino)-4-(pbromophenyl)thiazole (ABPT); M = CoII, Nill, CuII) have been synthesised. The results are consistent with bidentate chelation of the ligand with azomethine nitrogen and ring sulfur atoms as bonding sites, the complexes are in an approximately octahedral environment. The symmetry being C2 for the Coll complexes and D4h for other complexes. Crystal field parameters for the Coll and tetragonal parameters for the NIII complexes have been calculated.
