A new class of N-maltosides has been investigated in which maltosyl isothiocyanate was readily transformed into corresponding l-hepta-O-bcnzoyi-β-D-maltosyl-3-aryl thiocarbamides, 1-hepta-O-benzoyl-β-D-maltosyl-3-substituted benzothiazolyl thiocarbamides and 1-hepta-O-benzoyl-β-D-maltosyl-0-alkyl thiocarbamates on reaction with aryl amines, 2-aminobenzothiazoles/substituted benzothiazoles and alcohols. These compound were screened for their antimicrobial activity against P. vulgaris, E. coli, S. typhimurium, S. aureus, P. aeruginosa, A. niger, Mucur and Riazoctomia.
