Description
Extensive exploration in Eastern and North Eastern parts of India focusing on major vegetable crops resulted in collection of chilli (140), Dolichos bean (120), Amaranthus (285), other leafy vegetables (30) and moringa (86) germplasm. These accessions being purified, conserved, evaluated and being explored in crop improvement programmes. Sources of resistance to emerging diseases, for nutritional and biochemical traits were identified from the germplasm collected. These studies indicates that the germplasm pool from eastern and north eastern parts of India are potential sources against biotic stresses and nutritional traits
