Description
Sterculia pilosa Ducke (1922: 212)
[= Sterculia excelsa Martius (1841: 40) (Malvaceae)].
Lectotype (designated here):—BRAZIL. Pará: Peixeboi, E. F. Bragança, July 1907, A. Goeldi 8243 (RB, duplicates: BM, G, MG, R, U, US; photo F). Syntypes: R. Siqueira 8294 (MG, RB, US), A. Ducke 17098 (RB) and A. Ducke 17130 (RB, US).
Taroda (1984: 132) indicated two collections as “ Type” of Sterculia pilosa. These specimens are among the syntypes presented in the original description. Nevertheless, for lectotypification only one can be indicated, therefore we designate as lectotype the collection A. Goeldi 8243.
