Description

Pseudoaerumnosa clivicola sp. n.

Fig. 8 A

Material studied. Holotype male. CHINA, Yunnan, 10 km NW Gongshan, 27.798°N, 98.583°E, 2100 m a.s.l., Malaise trap, 10–12.VI.2009, A. Blank, A. Taeger & A. Liston (in SDEI). Paratypes. CHINA, same data as holotype, 8 males (2 in MZH, 6 in SDEI).

Description. Male. Head. Brown, antennae missing in the specimens studied. Maxillary palpus pale brown. Eye bridge 2–3 facets wide. Face with some dark long setae. Clypeus non-setose. Mouthparts strongly reduced. Maxillary palpus with one segment, with 3–4 pointed setae, with a large dorsal patch of sensilla. Thorax. Brown and unicolorous; setae dark. Anterior pronotum with 1–3 setae. Proepisternum with 1–4 setae. Scutellum with 4 long and many short setae. Wing. Fumose. Length 2.7 mm. Width/length 0.50. Anal lobe rather small. Hind margin with dorsal setae only. Veins distinct. R1/R 1.55–1.70. c/w 0.80–90. bM shorter than r-m, stM longer than M-fork, stCu as long as bM. R5 joining c at about base of M-fork. R1 with dorsal and ventral setae, bM, r-m and StCu nonsetose. Haltere pale brown. Legs. Yellow. Fore tibial organ unmodified, with some fine setae. Fore tibial spur longer than the tibial width. Abdomen. Pale brown; setae long, dark, and robust. Hypopygium, Fig. 8 A. Brown, like the abdomen, broad; setae dark. Gonocoxa slightly longer than gonostylus. Gonocoxae fused, intergonocoxal area broad and rather short, non-microtrichose, setose medially, ventromedial margin roundish and basally distinct. Setosity of gonocoxa rather long and dense, shorter at medial margin. Apicomedial seta well differentiated. Gonostylus elongated, impressed dorso- and ventromedially, with short and narrow medial lobe, with rather long and narrow apical tooth with a small megaseta attached to its ventral side, with 2 megasetae subapically, with 3 megasetae on the lobe, megasetae curved and hyalinous. Tegmen broader than long, roundishly curved laterally, broad apically, hyalinous but sclerotized basolaterally, with tiny aedeagal teeth. Aedeagal apodeme narrow, with distinct apical fork.

Female. Unknown.

Discussion. Pseudoaerumnosa clivicola sp. n. is very similar to P. inviolata Rudzinski but differs in having a broader basal part of the apical tooth of the gonostylus, a medially longer intergonocoxal area, a less microtrichose and less setose gonocoxa with shorter setae and an apically broader tegmen.

Etymology. The name is derived from the Latin words clivus, hill, and – cola, dweller, referring to the mountainous type-locality of the species.
