Echiniscus carsicus Mihelcic 1966

Description

15. Echiniscus carsicus Mihelčič, 1966 [T]

E. (E.) carsicus Mihelcic, 1966 (Claps & Rossi 1984)

Terra typica: Italy (Europe)

Argentina:

• 26°18′S, 65°37′W; 1,650 m asl: Tucumán Province, Hualinchay, lichens on house wall. Claps & Rossi (1984)

• 26°51′S, 65°23′W; 1,400 m asl: Tucumán Province, Villa Nogués, mosses on house wall. Claps & Rossi (1984)

Record numbers: Argentina: 2; total: 2.

Remarks: The species belongs to the arctomys group and the records by Claps & Rossi (1984) are the only report of this species outside Europe (McInnes 1994a). Its presence in South America is therefore dubious and should be verified (see remarks to E. arctomys above).
