Ipnopidae

Description

IPNOPIDAE

Bathypterois grallator (Good & Bean, 1886) , was reported as Benthosaurus cf. amblyops from off Toulon, France (western Mediterranean) at 2290 m on the basis of submersible photographs (Bernard, 1958). The presence of this species in the Mediterranean needs further documentation.
