Loxopsis Westwood 1859

Description

Genus Loxopsis Westwood, 1859: 117

Type-species: Phasma conocephalum Haan, 1842: 24, pl. 12:3 by original monotypy.

Diagnostic characters. The genus Loxopsis can be recognised by the following combination of characters: (1) Head conical but not pointed with filiform antennae. (2) Relatively broad body. (3) Presence of wings in both sexes. (4) Mesonutum less than three times the length of pronotum in females and less than four times the length of pronotum in males (5) Meso- & metafemora with medio-ventral carina or row of tubercles basally, which becomes more distinct and divides into two parallel carinae towards the apex. (6) Hind femora not swollen. (7) Abdominal tergite IX with a postero-median hump in females.
