Description
Cubacophus velutinus (Bonfils, 1981)
Cophus velutinus Bonfils, 1981: 108, figs. 19–27; Otte and Perez-Gelabert, 2009: 679, fig. 635. Cubacophus velutinus: Ruíz-Baliú and Otte, 1997a [1996]: 242.
Holotype male, Cueva del Jagüey, Oriente province [at present Holguín province], Cuba. [MNHNP or ISBER].
Distribution. Eastern Cuba.
Notes. Bonfils (1981) did not specify in which of the two museums he would deposit his type specimens. The type specimen for this species is not currently found in the MNHNP database of Orthoptera types. Details on this type locality are found in Orghidan et al. (1977) and given as follows: “Provincia de Oriente, Municipio de Mayarí, Barrio de Seboruquito, à 50 m en amont de la grotte précédente. Altitude: env. 20 m. ”
