Description

Subfamily Berberentulinae Yin, 1983

Berberentulinae is extraordinarily diverse in genera (29 genera in the world according to Szeptycki, 2007) and species. Within this subfamily Baculentulus Tuxen, 1977 is the only genus known from the northeastern Palearctic. This genus contains 38 known species (Shrubovych 2010a), mainly distributed in Africa, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Southern China and Japan (Fig. 2). None occurs in Siberia, but four species, Baculentulus potapovi, B. pomorskii, B. borealis and B. loxoglenus, have been recorded from the southeastern Russian Far East (Nakamura 2004; Shrubovych 2010a).
