Comments. Micronectinae has been raised to family rank by Nieser (2008), therefore, we prefer to treat Micronecta under family Micronectidae instead of Corixidae. Micronecta scholtzi is most abundant and widespread during the warm season. It was commonly collected in sand at edge of slow-flowing regions of lotic environments, up to 398 m asl. The first record of the species for Tunisia is reported by Puton (1886) in Southern Tunisia (Oudref, Gabès) under the name Sigara laevissima Puton.
Distribution. This species occurs in western, central, southern Europe, and North Africa (Jansson 1995; Carapezza 1997; Fent et al. 2011; Aukema et al. 2013).
