Terminalichus

Description

Re-definition of Terminalichus

Adult female. Idiosoma usually oval-shaped; rostral shield bifurcate. Palpus 3-segmented. Prodorsum with irregular broken striae laterally and two (sc 1 and sc 2) or three (v 2, sc 1 and sc 2) pairs of serrate setae, setae sc 1 extremely long, much longer than sc 2 and v 2, if present. Hysterosoma with 5–6 pairs of dorsal setae; dorsosublateral setae absent; dorsocentral setae c 1, d 1 and e 1 absent (except c 1 present in T. panajiensis); dorsolateral setae four pairs (d 3, e 3, h 2 and h 1), d 3 and e 3 much longer than h 2 and h 1. Medioventral setae 1a, 3a and 4a present. Genital and ventral plates contiguous, extending up to the posterior margin of coxa IV, considerably longer than broad, bearing one pair of aggenital setae ag and two pairs of gential setae (g 1 and g 2), which are setiform and subequal. Anal plate with two pairs of setae, ps 1 and ps 2.

Remarks. Terminalichus is distinguished from the similar genus Tenuilichus by the absence of dorsolateral setae f 3 (present in Tenuilichus) and short penultimate dorsal setae (h 2) (long and whip-like in Tenuilichus), and by the size of setae d 3 and e 3, which are much longer than the other dorsolateral setae in Terminalichus, but similar in length in Tenuilichus.
