Description

Stenocercus sinesaccus Torres-Carvajal, 2005

Type-locality. Chapada [Chapada dos Guimarães, 15°26’ S, 55°45’ W, 690 m], Mato Grosso, Brazil. Pertinent taxonomic references. Torres-Carvajal (2005, 2007a).

Distribution and habitat. Stenocercus sinesaccus is distributed in southwestern Amazonia, and centralwestern Cerrado, occurring only in Brazil (Fig. 19), where it is known from the states of Rondônia, Mato Grosso, and Goiás. Stenocercus sinesaccus is predominantly terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits dry forests (submontane open ombrophilous forests, and semidecidual forests), gallery forests, and arboreal savannas (rare or absent in open fields), where it is usually found on the ground (Vaz-Silva et al. 2007; Macedo et al. 2008; Valdujo et al. 2009; Morais et al. 2010; 2012; dos Santos et al. 2011).
