Ctenocephalides canis Curtis 1826

Description

Ctenocephalides canis (Curtis, 1826)

Material examined Hidalgo: Tlanchinol, Canis familiaris (= Canis lupus) Linnaeus; 1998, B. Salceda. Mexico: Malinalco, IX.1999, C. Martínez, 4 males, 5 females. Veracruz: Zaragoza, C. familiaris, III.1997, 7 males, 13 females.

Remarks—The records and the range of hosts for this species are limited in Mexico (Hopkins and Rothschild 1953). C. canis has been found in seven of the 32 states (Table 1).
