Description

Munidopsis abdominalis (A. Milne-Edwards, 1880)

Munidopsis abdominalis has previously been reported as Elasmonotus abdominalis (see Baba et al. 2008). It ranges from French Guiana to the Gulf of Mexico in depths of 357 to 720 m (Chace 1942; Takeda 1983). Three males (CW from 6.1 to 8.6 mm) and one ovigerous female (CW = 7.9 mm) of M. abdominalis were present in the collections; these specimens were from the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico in depths of 417 to 543 m.
