Holotype. Estación de Biología Tropical Los Tuxtlas (UNAMLT) 2775, adult male collected 10 August 1984.
Typelocality. Estación de Biología Tropical Los Tuxtlas, 150 m elevation, Veracruz, Mexico.
Distribution. Known only from mesic forest in the Los Tuxtlas region of southern Veracruz, Mexico, 150 600 m elevation.
Species group. semidoliatus (PérezHigareda et al. 2001).
