Microsargane Microrhaphe, sp.nov.

Description

Microsargane (Microrhaphe) subgen.nov.

Type-species: Microrhaphe martialis sp.nov., the only included species.

Etymology. micro- small, rhaphe (f.) seam, referring to the linear markings.

Diagnosis. Striped in brown or black and yellow to tan (Figs 9 H–K); theca unique (Figs 55 A–C).

Description. Head slightly narrower than pronotum; crown with longitudinal, parallel-margined, darkened sulci, coronal margin carinate; antennal postpedicel small, as in the nominate subgenus, but with fewer scattered coeloconic sensilla (Fig. 24 H); eye transverse, longer than lateral margins of pronotum. Tegmina each with 2 costal crossveins, outer and inner anteapical cells large, tip without small preapical cell, 2 veins reaching tip forking just before margin. Hind tibiae each with double pecten of 8 black-tipped spines, hind tarsal pectens with 6 blacktipped spines on basomere, 8–9 black-tipped spines on 2nd tarsomere. Male abdominal segment X membranous as in Cercopinae; pygofers with small hook just above base of subgenital plate; plates fused, together ovoid (Fig. 55 D); style furcate, with setal tufts on tip of inner process and on outer edge near midlength (Fig. 55 E); thecal tip short and spinelike, with strongly curving, unbranched processes from outer angles of transverse basal plate (Figs 55 A–C).

Remarks. M. (Microtholia) sobria barcodes as 4.5% divergent from this subgenus, as does the nominate subgenus of Microsargane; other species of Microtholia are as much as 8.2% divergent. Only one species known [CNC-HEM#305415 barcodes as 2% divergent, about that between the two species of Neaeniskus].
