Valenciennellus tripunctulatus
Description
Valenciennellus tripunctulatus (Esmark, 1871).
To 8 cm (3.1 in) SL (Harold in Carpenter and De Angelis 2016). Circumglobal; western Pacific Ocean north to central Japan (Aizawa in Nakabo 2002); well offshore California (e.g., Personal communication: Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History Fish Collection, Los Angeles, California), and east side of Isla Guadalupe, central Baja California (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California). Depth: 36–3,000 m (118–9,848 ft) (min.: Porteiro et al. 2017; max.: Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California).
