Description

Buphthalmum durum Linnaeus, Species Plantarum, ed. 2, 2: 1275. 1763.

"Habitat ad Cap. b. spei." RCN: 6532.

Lectotype (designated here by Nordenstam): [icon] " Chrysanth. African. Asteris facie, imo flore non folioso, capitulis duris " in Plukenet, Phytographia: t. 21, f. 3. 1691; Almag. Bot.: 101. 1696. - Epitype (designated here by Nordenstam): South Africa. Cape Province, Camps Bay, 8 Oct 1932, J.P.H. Acock 887 (S).

Current name: Osteospermum polygaloides L. (Asteraceae).

Note: As some features shown by the lectotype are ambiguous, an epitype is also designated.
