Naso tonganus

Description

Naso tonganus (Valenciennes [ex Quoy & Gaimard] in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1835)—Bulbnose unicornfish

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen observed at Nusalomon Island, Kavieng District, 1–24 m depth, St. T1, on 30 Oct. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: East Africa east to Marshall Islands and Samoa, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia. Found in seaward reefs, 3–20 m depth. Marine.
