Description

Vanderhorstia ambanoro (Fourmanoir 1957) —Ambanoro shrimpgoby

Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Ireland by Allen & Erdmann (2012: 887); a video of a specimen taken on north coast of Manne Island, Kavieng District at 1–11 m depth, St. KR 36, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another taken at Kawauiliaka Island, off northeastern New Hanover, at 3–12 m depth, St. KR 132, in 2014.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa east to Marshall Islands and Samoa, north to Yaeyama Islands, south to New Caledonia. Found on sand bottoms of lagoon and seaward reef slopes, associated with alpheid shrimps, 0–30 m depth. Marine.
