Description
Helcogramma striata Hansen 1986 —Tropical striped triplefin
Status at New Ireland. First recorded from in orginal description from New Ireland by Hansen (1986: 351); record confirmed from Lemus, Nusau and Nusalomon Islands, Kavieng Lagoon by Fricke (1994: 436–441) and Fricke (1997: 480–489). A specimen photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 15 Oct. 2007; a video of a specimen taken in Senta Pass, east of New Hanover at 5–12 m depth, St. KR114, in 2014. USNM material.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Sri Lanka east to Line Islands, north to Izu Islands (Japan), south to northern Australia, New Caledonia and Fiji. Cryptic, live corals, 1–20 m depth. Marine.
