Description
Pomacentrus simsiang Bleeker 1856 —Moluccan damselfish
Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken east of North Cape, Kavieng District, 3–20 m depth, St. KR 20, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another taken at Nubilus Island, off eastern New Hanover, at 3–32 m depth, St. KR 88, in 2014.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Micronesia and Papua New Guinea. Found in silty shoreline reefs and lagoons, 1–10 m depth. Marine.
