Description
Hemiglyphidodon plagiometopon (Bleeker 1852) —Lagoon damselfish
Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Ireland by Allen & Erdmann (2012: 601); a video of a specimen taken at Anelaua Island, off eastern New Hanover, at 3–16 m depth, St. KR 98, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another video taken in Albatross Passage, southwestern Kavieng District, 3–13 m depth, St. KD 83, in 2014.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Andaman Sea and Indonesia east to Palau and Solomon Islands, north to Philippines, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found in sheltered coastal reefs and lagoons, 1–20 m depth. Marine.
