Type locality. China (Nam Hpen Noi, Yunnan).
Type material. Unknown.
Examined material. 1 C (SORC-V.138.01), cabbage field, Son La, 31/12/1984.
Records from Vietnam. Lang Son (Binh Gia); Yen B a i (Yen Binh); Vinh Phuc (Tam Dao NP); Phu Tho (Xuan Son NP); Ninh Binh (Cuc Phuong NP) (Do 1994; Le 1995a; Huynh et al. 2005).
Distribution. Originally described from China (Yunnan) and Myanmar, and known from Japan; recently reported from China (Sichuan; Guizhou) and Vietnam (Easton 1981; Zhong & Qiu 1987; Blakemore 2007a).
Vietnamese name. Giun nhẵn.
Remarks. Thai (1983) proposed a new subgenus Terrata of the genus Pheretima, and placed the species under the new subgenus.
