Type locality. China (Szechuan).
Type material. Unknown.
Examined material. 3 C, 5 A (SORC-V.131.01), 3 C (CTU-EW.053.01) rotting woods, Khuoi Da, Thach An, Cao Bang, 18/3/1992, coll. Le Van Trien; 1 C, 2 A (SORC-V.131.02) Bac Son, Lang Son, 26/11/1993, coll. Le Van Trien.
Records from Vietnam. Lao Cai (Sa Pa); Yen B a i (Luc Yen; Yen Binh); Ha Giang (Quan Ba); Lang Son (Bac Son); Cao Bang (Thach An); Bac Giang (Khe Ro NR); Hanoi (Ba Vi NP) (Do 1994; Le 1995a; Huynh & Nguyen 2004a; Tran & Ngo 2008).
Distribution. China (Chen 1946).
Remarks. Sims & Easton (1972) stated that the species can be excluded from Metaphire or Pheretima because of the absence of copulatory pouches, but it cannot be assigned to a genus due to lack of details of the presence or absence of intestinal caeca. Therefore, it was listed as "species incertae sedis " on page 241 of Sims & Easton (1972). The examined population in Vietnam showed the presence of intestinal caeca in xxi–xxvii. The species is confirmedly assigned to the genus Amynthas.
