Anostirus purpureus

Description

Anostirus purpureus (Poda, 1761) (Figs. 3, 5, 6)

Locality Record. 1 male 1 female: Artvin: Şavşat Sahara (41°42′14″N 42°23′49″E), 1,908 m, 14.V.2004; 4 males: Şavşat Karagöl lake (41°18′22″N 42°29′17″E), 1610 m, 15.V.2004, leg. O. Sert. This species was reported by Cate (2007) and Mertlik and Platia (2008) from Turkey without a specific locality record.

World Distribution. Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia (central and southern European territory), Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Turkey (Cate 2007).

Notes. According to Mertlik and Platia (2008), there are 12 species of Anostirus Thomson, 1859 in Turkey. The anal sternite of male A. purpureus (Fig. 5) is long and distinctly constricted medially, whereas it is shorter and only slightly constricted medially in the female (Fig. 6).
