Hylaeogena speculum (Klug, 1825)
Trachys speculum Klug, 1825: 430.
Brachys speculum: Saunders 1870: 35. Pachyschelus speculum: Saunders 1871: 134. Hylaeogena speculum: Obenberger 1937: 1344. Hylaeogena cordieri Obenberger, 1923: 43; Hornburg 2012: 57.
Specimen Examined. BRAZIL: Chabrillac, Collection Chevrolat (BMNH).
Discussion. Hornburg (2012) designated and published a photograph of the lectotype of Hylaeogena speculum and figured the genitalia of a male paralectotype. The genitalia are different from those of any species of the following two genera in having dense setae along the margins of the median 1/3 of the parameres. Hylaeogena cordieri was figured by Cobos (1979). Hylaeogena speculum may be involved in a mimicry complex with coccinellids.
