Diagnosis: This species is similar to Ph. nacesiveci Malicky from Sarawak but it is easily separated by details in the genitalia, particularly by the shorter sternite IX; the dorsal paraproctal processes that are each fused with its paraproctal base and its ventral paraproctal process; the smaller cerci; and the gonopods that each have a subapicodorsal mesal bidentate process.
Description: Male. Body pale with almost whitish antennae and head; and pale brown legs and mesonotal and metanotal sclerites. Maxillary palp formula (I,II)-IV-III-V. Forewings each 4.0 mm long; with 3 isolated hyaline areas: (1) narrow line on R behind crossvein r -s; (2) small spot on crossvein s -m; and (3) long vertical line on crossvein m -cu and on 1st branching point of M.
Male genitalia. Segment IX forming quadrangular, short sternite IX with apical rim indicated by subapical constriction (Fig. 106); constriction pronounced ventrally by presence of blunt posteroapical median keel; posterior margins of sternite IX above and below base of each gonopod turned mesad and fused into very short sternal tube surrounding basal part of each gonopod. Basal half of sternite IX on each side connected to cercus and paraproctal complex, possibly via rudimentary tergite IX. Segment X well-developed, weakly sclerotized, monolobed, broadly ligulate, as long as dorsal paraproctal plate; apex broad, with median excision; dorsoapical half setose. Cerci elongated, foliaceous, uniformly setose. Paraproctal complexes each including dorsal and ventral processes fused into mesal vertical plate with lateral horizontal carina; mesal vertical plate encircling phallic apparatus. Gonopods originating from sternal tubes (Fig. 106); in lateral view almost parallel-sided, slightly geniculate, turning dorsad on mid-length; each with bidentate subapicodorsal lobe pointing mesad (Fig. 107). Phallic apparatus (Fig. 108) constituting simple tube with slightly broadening phallobase and straight phallicata; apical membranes broadening and curving ventrad.
Holotype male: MALAYSIA: Sabah: Tawau, Maliau Basin, Nepenthes Camp, crossing stream, 4 ° 43 ’ 58.9 ’’ N, 116 ° 52 ’ 40.7 ’’ E, 994 m, 9.xii.–14.xii.2007, Mega Malaise Trap (6m) [B. Viklund & N. Jönsson] (NHMS).
Distribution: Malaysia (Sabah).
Etymology: Wamana, “short”, in Sanscrit; the name refers to the short sternite IX, contrasting with the relatively long sternites of the 2 similar species, P. espelandae and P. nacesiveci.
